“How many packs of tape-in extensions should I order?”
The answer depends on two things:
- Your desired result (volume vs. full transformation)
- The brand + density of the hair you’re using
Below is a simple breakdown to guide you.
Bohyme Tape-In Install Guide
Bohyme tapes have less pieces per pack (10 pieces), so you’ll typically need more packs to achieve fullness.
Pieces are 1.5 inches wide
Weights are 18 inch length = 28g per pack, 22 inch length = 28g per pack
Partial / Adding Volume
→ 1–2 packs (10–20 pieces)
Perfect for filling in around the sides or adding subtle density.
Half Head
→ 4–6 packs (40–60 pieces)
Ideal for medium fullness or blending shorter layers.
Full Head
→ 6–8 packs (60–80 pieces)
Bliss Tape-In Install Guide
Bliss tapes have more pieces per pack, meaning you can achieve the same look with fewer packs.
Pieces are 1.5 inches wide
Weights are 18 inch length = 50g per pack, 22 inch length = 50g per pack
Partial / Adding Volume
→ 1–2 packs (20–40 pieces)
Great for soft fullness or enhancing natural hair.
Half Head
→ 2 packs (40 pieces)

How to Choose the Right Amount
If you’re unsure, consider:
- Fine hair: You can often use fewer packs
- Thick or blunt cuts: You’ll likely need more and you should consider softening the cut before installation
- Going longer than your natural hair: Plan for a full head install to achieve the best blend
